Engineering students participate in the West Texas BEST Robotics Contest. WT BEST stands for West Texas Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology. The BEST competition exposes high school students to the concepts of engineering and technology. Annually in September, teams of high school students receive a box of parts to design and build a remote-controlled robot to accomplish a specific task. In six weeks the teams design and build prototypes, stage mock competitions and compete against each other locally and then move on to a regional final and championship. The team attended the Kickoff at Frenship High School, on Saturday, September 9th to find out what the game would involve this year. The objective to this year's game is to design and build a remotely controlled device to unload supplies from an automated supply vehicle at the Martian base and place then in the storage bin within a three minute time limit. |
