Annually our engineering students participate in the West Texas BEST Robotics Contest. WT BEST stands for West Texas Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology. The BEST competition exposes high school students to the concepts of engineering and technology. Annually in September, teams of high school students receive a box of parts to design and build a remote-controlled robot to accomplish a specific task along with recording everything in a notebook (which can be viewed by clicking the link to the left). In six weeks the teams design and build prototypes, stage mock competitions and compete against each other locally and then move on to a regional final and championship. The team attended the Kickoff at Frenship High School, on Saturday, September 5th to find out what the game would involve this year. The objective of this year's game is to design and build a remotely controlled device that will gather and create remote molecule interactions that will enable us to create a new alternative fuel called isooctane .
